The Rev. Timothy Holton-Overcast serves as pastor of Caney Spring United Methodist Church. He is passionate about helping people discover God's grace, ask meaningful questions, and connect faith with everyday life.
Timothy believes the church is called to be a place of welcome, belonging, and transformation, where people can grow in their relationship with God and one another. His ministry is grounded in the Wesleyan tradition and shaped by a commitment to compassion, justice, and authentic community.
Before entering pastoral ministry, Timothy spent more than twenty years working in healthcare and biopharmaceutical research and development. He now serves in a variety of ministry settings, including congregational ministry, prison chaplaincy on Tennessee's death row, and community engagement.
Timothy and his husband, Jim (who is also a United Methodist Pastor), share a love for faith, hospitality, the outdoors, and caring for their animals. When he isn't preparing sermons or serving in ministry, he enjoys hiking, gardening, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Beyond the local church, Timothy serves in several areas of leadership across the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference of The United Methodist Church. He serves as Chaplain to the Committee on LGBTQ+ Inclusion, as a member of the Board of Church & Society, and on the Mental Health & Well-Being Guide Team. Through these ministries, he works alongside others to help cultivate a Church rooted in justice, belonging, compassion, and the well-being of all people.
A Note From the Pastor
Welcome to Caney Spring United Methodist Church.
Whether you're searching for a church home, exploring faith, returning after time away, or simply curious about who we are, I'm glad you're here.
Caney Spring UMC is a congregation with a rich history, a welcoming spirit, and a desire to share God's love in meaningful ways. You don't have to have all the answers, and you don't have to have your life perfectly together. We believe God's grace meets us where we are and invites us into something deeper.
I hope you'll join us for worship and experience the warmth and community that make Caney Spring UMC such a special place.
Grace and peace,
Rev. Timothy Holton-Overcast
